Discussion

The current primary hub for discussion of Game By God (outside of the main site) is a Discord channel hosted on Alexander Wales’ Discord server. If you click here, you can join it, and you should be able to see the #game-by-god tag listed under the Text Channels section.

If you aren’t familiar with Discord, it’s a mainly text-based online chatting service. It requires you to sign up, but it’s free and very easy to use. At time of writing, I’ve only been on it for around two or three months (more of a traditional message board type of person), but I’ve picked it up quickly without any real trouble. (For someone as technically challenged as me, that’s saying something.)

It’s worth noting that the server is not mine; it belongs to Alexander Wales (writer of popular serial Worth the Candle and a good amount of other original works/fanfiction) who was kind enough to add a dedicated server for readers of GBG to use after enough off-topic discussion in his #other-fiction channel warranted it. I am not a mod or an admin there, although I do participate. Keep in mind that only the #game-by-god channel is for us (you can obviously use the other channels if you have relevant stuff to say, but they aren’t meant for GBG discussion in particular).

Because of that, I implore you not to be a dirtbag if you do decide to go and join it. For how new the serial is, the chatroom is moderately active, and I think that a single channel within a larger server is pretty much the perfect setup in terms of the size of readership the serial has right now. I don’t think this will be an issue, but please take care to be nice/considerate/all that jazz. The last thing I want is Alexander Wales (who has been nothing but a total darling so far) regretting his decision because of an influx of folks stirring up trouble.

In the future, if readership and demand grows, I’ll make a Discord channel solely dedicated to this serial, but I don’t think we’re quite there yet in terms of what we’d need to justify it and also have it be consistently active. Once we are, I’ll be glad to do so.
